Deacon Hoang Viet “HV” Le came to Norfolk in 1975 as a refugee from Vietnam. He attended Booker T. Washington High School and Old Dominion University and went on to work for Dominion Energy, where he retired in 2016. HV and his wife Dao moved from Richmond to Norfolk in 2019 to be closer to their three grown children, and they also joined the parish at that time. In September 2021, HV was ordained a permanent deacon by Bishop Barry C. Knestout.
At Saint Pius, Deacon HV is responsible for the Sick/Homebound and the Funeral ministries. The leadership and interpersonal skills and experience that Deacon HV obtained from his job as an engineering manager and various community and church functions such as a Knights of Columbus grand knight, a church finance council chairperson, a confirmation program catechist, a coach of little league baseball and soccer have helped Deacon HV to work well with people of all ages and different backgrounds.
Deacon HV enjoys spending time with his grandson, playing music, golfing, fishing, and gardening with his wife in his spare time.
