Men's Club Bible Study Sundays 9:15 AM - 10:30 AM Meets in the School Library
The Men’s Club of St. Pius X will begin a new series for adults of the parish. Jesus was a perceptive teacher and a skilled storyteller who often used parables to convey His Message and teachings in a way that resonated with the people of His time. Because life in first-century Israel was so different from life as we know it today, it is important to understand the context in which Jesus and His disciples lived and worked. In Amy Jill Levine’s book, Short Stories by Jesus, this context is explored through parables like The Good Samaritan, The Mustard Seed, The Rich Man and Lazarus, and many more. Amy Jill Levine is a Professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies at Hartford International University, Professor of Jewish Studies Emerita at Vanderbilt University, and the first Jewish person to teach on the New Testament at Rome’s Pontifical Biblical Institute. Her understanding of Scripture and Jewish culture enlivens the Scriptures and brings the themes and nuances of Jesus’ teachings into the present day. This series will begin on March 16, 2025, from 9:15 am to 10:15 am. You are welcome to join the gathering in the school library. If you do not know where that is located in the school, come to coffee and donuts in the Parish Hall and you can be directed to the school library. A book may be purchased from Amazon here: Short Stories By Jesus
THIS BIBLE STUDY IS OPEN TO ALL PARISHIONERS, AND YOU MAY JOIN AT ANY TIME. NO SIGN UP NEEDED. For more information, contact Charlie Lopez at [email protected].
